The Swedish operation of Storebrand Life has appointed Anders Bäckström as its temporary managing director. Mr Bäckström joined Storebrand in November 2005 from Danica Fondförsäkring, where he was market director since 1999. He was also one of the founders of the firm.
Mr Bäckström is replacing Malin Björkmo who has joined the Swedish ministry of industry, employment and communications as head of division for state enterprises. Storebrand expects to appoint a permanent replacement by the end of July.
Storebrand is also considering launching a new unit-linked product. “We are working on a plan to launch a unit-linked product but have not made any final decision on the issue yet,” Mr Bäckström said.
Storebrand launched its Swedish operation in September 2005. The firm offers occupational pensions with Norwegian insurance guarantee and transfer rights.
