Denmark’s €12bn Sampension has appointed Hasse Jørgensen as its new finance director. Mr Jørgensen joins from the €27.2bn PFA Pension, where he was chief investment officer.
Sampension manages labour market pension schemes and investment portfolios of the local governments’ pension fund, the government employees’ pension fund and the graphical industries’ pension fund.
- PKA, Lærernes Pension – the schoolteacher scheme, and the pension fund of early childhood teachers – has appointed Jes Damsted as the managing director of Forca, its newly launched joint administration company. Mr Damsted joins the firm from BRFkredit, where he was a director. Forca was launched on 1 September. It offers actuarial, IT, membership and financial services to labour market pensions.
- Finland’s Evli Bank has appointed Lea Keinänen as head of asset management. Ms Keinänen, who has a background in institutional investments and fixed income, joined Evli in 1993. Evli’s current head of asset management Maunu Lehtimäki, who joined the firm in 1996, will become the firm’s CEO from 1 November. Evli’s current CEO Henrik Andersin has been named as the chairman of Evli’s board.
- Alecta, the €42.5bn Swedish pension insurance company, has appointed Maj-Charlotte Wallin and Staffan Grefbäck as senior vice presidents. Ms Wallin, who joined the firm in 2003, previously worked at Stockholm country council, Nordea, Skandia and Jones Lang Lasalle. Mr Grefbäck joined Alecta in 2001 as head of asset management.
- FIM Asset Management has appointed Hertta Alava as fund manager of its new special mutual fund, FIM Sahara. Ms Alava joins the firm from Varma, the €25.3bn mutual pension insurance company, where she was an investment analyst and stock portfolio manager. In her new role, Ms Alava will be based in Kuwait.
- Etera, the €5.45bn Finnish pension insurance company, has appointed Mika Pesonen as its chief investment officer. Mr Pesonen joins the firm from the state pension fund (VER), where he was head of equities. VER is looking for a replacement for Mr Pesonen and expects to announce the new appointment in October. Etera’s previous CIO, Ari Korhonen, joined Kaupthing Asset Management earlier this year.
