Johan Hellman has been appointed as director-general of Premiepensionsmyndigheten (PPM), the Swedish premium pension authority. Mr Hellman has been acting director-general since the departure of Christina Lindenius last year.
Mr Hellman said his main priority will be to not only continue with the authority’s current work, but also to assist the government in the creation of a new pension authority.
The new authority, which will be up and running by 2010, will administer all areas of the pension system and include PPM within its structure.
“The new authority will make the pension administration more focused and cost-efficient,” said Mr Hellman.
He will head up PPM until it merges with the new pension authority on January 1 2010. He has worked within the organisation since its launch in 1998.
Ms Lindenius left last summer to become director-general of Försäkringsförbundet, the Swedish Insurance Federation.
